De zoveelste fotograaf die ik volg die overstapt van een DSLR naar Fuji. “Overstappen” is misschien wel kort door de bocht want hij houdt wel zijn DSLR voor andere opdrachten. Maar toch, er zijn ondertussen al een pak fotografen die blijkbaar vooral de grootte en het gewicht van een DSLR beu (aan het worden) zijn.

Photographers seem to be jettisoning their heavy DSLR gear in favour of smaller mirror-less cameras, and while I doubted I’d be doing so as quickly, when I get on the plane to Kenya for two weeks of assignment work tomorrow, I won’t be taking a DSLR.”

En de DSLR wint. Wereldschokkend nieuws. Duhhh. Indien ze morgen iets in uw strijkijzer of broodrooster steken waarmee je beelden kan maken en dan een test doen, wie zal dan winnen denk je? Tja, een DSLR is nu eenmaal gemaakt om foto’s te nemen en gelukkig niet om te telefoneren!
En nog iets dat ze ontdekt hebben is dat niet het materiaal telt maar de kennis van diegene die op het knopje drukt. Re-duhhh. Ervaring helpt ook. Re-re-duhhh.

Heb jij ook een spiegelreflex? Ga je die binnen een paar jaar ook nog altijd hebben? Of zijn er “betere” technologieën op de markt?
“OK, sure that’s a bold statement, and for me it just may be true. I believe that the mirrorless camera is and will continue push the DSLR as we know it aside. Its progress and its coming. If you do not agree you may just have to accept it, even the greats in Glass like Carl Zeiss are making lenses for the mirrorless systems, they see where photography is going too.”

“We don’t see the smartphone as an enemy. We like to see it as representing an infrastructure which we should be making use of. If we make sure that we continue to produce cameras that do things which smartphones can’t, and we also continue to provide links between our cameras and smartphones we’ll be able to create a system which is of benefit to our customers.”

“Manufacturers are putting on brave faces as compact sales continue their decline and interchangeable lens camera sales fail to shine. Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon and Olympus have all put out their financial results covering the Christmas period, and there’s little to be positive about, with falling sales of interchangeable lens cameras being reported by the industry’s biggest players.”
Het ging al niet goed met de fotografen, nu volgen de camerafabrikanten. Wie is de volgende?
